• Social protection systems against disasters

    Disasters take a heavy social and economic toll on the population, primarily on those with the greatest vulnerabilities related to prevailing social inequalities. This vulnerability can be reversed through social protection, whether by establishing a risk prevention scenario involving, say, income loss, or in a reactive manner by activating emergency measures to mitigate disaster impacts among the population hardest hit.
